Along with the services available
through the One-Stop
Career Center System, eligible youth between the
ages of 14 and 21 are allowed to participate in ten other services
funded through the Workforce Investment Act.
These
include:
- Tutoring,
study skills training and instruction leading to completion of
secondary school including dropout prevention strategies.
- Information
about alternative school services.
- Summer
employment opportunities directly linked to academic and occupational
learning.
- Paid
and unpaid work experiences including internships and job shadowing.
- Occupational
skill training (i.e. vocational schooling).
- Leadership
development opportunities, which can include community service and peer
centered activities that encourage responsibility and positive social
behaviors.
- Financial
support services that aid in the retention of school, or employment
(including $100 incentives for attaining certain levels of competency
or graduating high school- Limits apply).
- Adult
Mentoring.
- Follow-up
services after leaving the program that encourage retention in school
or employment.
- Comprehensive
guidance and counseling.

please contact the One-Stop Career Center nearest you to find out about
the opportunities that are available. As usual, all services are free
of charge.
